Team Spotlight: Morris Chen, AI Engineer

We're thrilled to introduce you to the faces behind Parallel. Our Team Member Spotlight series will provide a glimpse into the work behind the people who drive our organization forward, showcasing their unique talents, passions, and contributions.

Today we are spotlighting Morris Chen, AI Engineer.

What is your background?

I am a machine learning engineer with a diverse background encompassing competitive programming, mobile app development, DevOps engineering, and AI product management. In the field of machine learning, my primary focus has been on computer vision. I have authored a published paper on using GANs for image super-resolution and completed a thesis exploring Quaternion Neural Networks to enhance computer vision tasks. I've also worked in smart surveillance, and hold a patent on smart financial analysis. In general, I'm interested in pursuing innovative and impactful projects.

What is the coolest work you’ve done before Parallel?

I created the first automated traffic surveillance tool for the New Taipei Police Bureau. It features automated vehicle type identification and license plate detection to annotate all incoming surveillance footage.

What has been your favourite contribution to the Parallel universe?

My favourite contribution to Parallel so far is breathing life (or should I say intelligence) to the agents in playing the mini-games we are developing.

What is something you are looking forward to in terms of Parallel?

I'm looking forward to making game features that challenge the current paradigms of gaming, especially in the AI front of things. I'm interested in what the player interactions would look like, and can only imagine how game-changing it would be.
