Team Spotlight: Matt Corcoran, Lead Character Artist

09.17.2024

We're thrilled to introduce you to the faces behind Parallel. Our Team Member Spotlight series will provide a glimpse into the work behind the people who drive our organization forward, showcasing their unique talents, passions, and contributions.

Today we are spotlighting Matt Corcoran, Lead Character Artist.

What is your background?

I am Matt Corcoran, an artist focusing on creating characters and creatures for games, film, and collectibles. My passion is in storytelling through characters and comes with a lifelong commitment to push my artwork to new boundaries. Before joining Parallel Studios, I had the honour of working on projects for Industrial Light & Magic, Disney, Microsoft Initiative, Ubisoft, Rockstar Games, and AnatomyTools.

What is the coolest gaming-related work you’ve done before Parallel?

I really enjoyed creating the cinematic versions of the Paragons from the trading card game. Taking the original game models and sourcing the amazing card art, I worked on bringing the characters to a new level of detail and realism.

What is an example of something you’ve designed for Parallel?

My work at Parallel can be seen in the characters made for the Avatars collection, the collectable figure sculpt of Catherine, and the TCG cinematic characters such as: Catherine, Gnaeus, and Gaffar. I also had the joy of creating the 3D illustrated card and avatar for Ilana - Keeper of the Vault.

What is something you are looking forward to in terms of Parallel?

I am excited about expanding the Parallel Universe with new characters and seeing the adventures that they will go on together.

If you had to pick one Parallel to join, which would it be?

It’s hard to choose because they all have something that I love about them! My choice ultimately though would be Earthen. I love their design aesthetics with nature and respect them as a faction for staying on Earth, surviving the past 10,000 years prior to the war, and for protecting their homeland.
