Team Spotlight: Lluis Andreu, Lead 3D Artist

10.08.2024

We're thrilled to introduce you to the faces behind Parallel. Our Team Member Spotlight series will provide a glimpse into the work behind the people who drive our organization forward, showcasing their unique talents, passions, and contributions.

Today we are spotlighting Lluis Andreu, Lead 3D Artist.

What is your background?

I've always worked in game development since that has been my goal since I was a kid. I love video games and all I wanted to do growing up was to be able to make them one day. I joined Jagex in 2007 as a Junior 3D Artist. That was my very first job in game development. Since then, I focused on 3D art and eventually environment art but I always had a big interest in the technical side of things. Not as in tech art per se but in aspects such as pipelines, workflows, material creation, and tools. Since then, I worked at different studios and different games:

Asobo - where I developed Pixar Games

Crytek - where I worked on Ryse: Son of Rome, Homefront 2, Warface, and Hunt: Showdown

Ubisoft - where I worked on Rainbow 6: Siege, Assassin's Creed III Remastered, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla

After that, I joined Parallel in January 2022.

What is the coolest work you’ve done before Parallel?

If I had to pick, Ryse: Son of Rome was the peak in my career for many reasons. I had a big level of ownership in that game. It was definitely a game that set a standard, visually speaking, in the games industry and to me it meant a huge challenge. On the other hand, being able to work on the Assassin's Creed Saga was a dream come true. The first Assassin's Creed really hit me back in the day and taking part in a project like that was a huge experience.

What has been your favourite contribution to the Parallel universe?

Aside from being able to contribute to our art Library and its applications to the ongoing AR/VR research, I am particularly happy with how the Avatars Collection came out. It was a very demanding project done in a short amount of time and that was when the incredible skillset of our team particularly shined. We delivered something very unique that looks as good as a final product as it does behind doors. That development process is something I will always remember.

What is something you are looking forward to in terms of Parallel?

The current projects we are cooking have the potential to be a game changer. They will really highlight everything we have been setting up and they will create a huge moment of realization to the whole web3/gaming community and beyond.

If you had to pick one Parallel to join, which would it be?

I would be a Marcolian! They have everything I like when choosing sides in games. The hero vibe, awesome vehicles and weapons as well as high tech, cool and clean visuals.

What are your social handles? (Twitter, Instagram, etc.)

I mostly use Instagram (@luismi.and) and X (@k3lk0m) although they are not art focused only. They are a mix of my personal and professional life.
