Today we are spotlighting John Black, Audio Director.
What is your background?
I studied Recording Engineering and Film, and I founded Cypher as an audio production studio in 2000, primarily focusing on sound for pictures. Since then, Cypher has designed sound and music for curated art, feature film, broadcast network, motion graphics, commercial, interactive, site-specific installation, AAA Gaming, AR/VR, Web3 & Procedural / Generative Audio Systems. We specialize in forward thinking sonic branding, fusing current sound design & music composition techniques, from concept to final mix.
What is an example of something you’ve designed for Parallel?
I have been crafting the SoundWorld (music and sound design) for Parallel since 2021, all of the cinematics and promos/trailers, VO production and processing/editing, audio direction & procedural audio design for the TCG. In 2022, Cypher composer Joris van Grunsven came aboard to further develop the musical themes for each faction, and the larger Parallel Universe.
What is something you are looking forward to in terms of Parallel?
Really looking forward to seeing how far this IP can grow, there is so much potential in the lore and depth of design, it’s exciting to say the least.
If you had to pick one Parallel to join, which would it be?
Probably Shroud since they are pretty Metal.
