Card Ability Changes
Welcome to the first balance patch for Planetfall. We’re taking a look at some high performers and looking to claw some space away, while also taking some shots to bump up some underperformers. Most of the changes are focused on Kathari and Shroud and we’ll be keeping an eye on them in the wake of these changes to see if more needs to be done. Mrgone leaked the Flourish change on the latest episode of the Life in Parallel podcast. We look to include this change in Patch 0.52.
Workshop's Forward Assembly Mechanic - Cost Change
Old Cost: 2 Energy
New Cost: 3 Energy
With Workshop's Forward Assembly Mechanic on the second turn, the consistency of coming out early and creating a larger than expected Juggernaut is hard to deal with as other Parallels and stronger than we’d like. Originally, this card was intended to spread power in Augencore away from the one-turn-kill (OTK) Jury-rigged Juggernaut, which is no longer necessary to incentivize after our other balance changes.
Triumph of Europa - Ability Change Old Ability:
Waste the top three cards of your deck. Play any number of units with total cost 6 or less from your waste. Those units gain +1/+0.
New Ability:
Waste the top three cards of your deck. Play any number of units with total cost 5 or less from your waste. Those units gain +1/+0.
This discount was intended to give Kathari a way to rebuild after losing board position, but the card advantage itself is proving to be potent enough without the energy kickback. Conveniently, this also specifically prevents the combination of Valerusi Standard Bearer and Convergent Centurus from being returned, which has proven to be a potent combination.
The Rubicon - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Evasive, Shielded
Muster: Create a copy of each card in your hand.
After a friendly unit is destroyed, create a 1/1 Convergent.
New Ability:
Evasive, Shielded
Muster: Create a copy of each card in your hand.
After a friendly non-token unit is destroyed, create a 1/1 Convergent.
Convergent Domina + Rubicon was a repeatable asymmetrical board wipe and the non-token clause shuts off this undesirable interaction.
Convergent Princept - Stat Change
Old Health: 2 Health
New Health: 1 Health
Taking some survivability off of core Kathari units. This particularly increases the fragility of Convergent openings, helping to balance the risk with the reward of curving out with Convergents that are not removed.
Convergent Velitus - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Friendly Convergents have +1/+0 for each other friendly Convergent on the field while attacking.
New Ability:
Friendly Convergents have +2/+0 while attacking.
This change allows us to make this Unit stronger in the first few turns of curving out and most other use cases, but less of a combo kill danger.
Convergent Centurus - Stat Change
Old Health: 3 Health
New Health: 2 Health
Taking a bit of survivability off of core Kathari units. This one in particular comes with a lot of extra material, so it doesn’t need to be as impactful in the first place.
Treacherous Scheming - Cost Change
Old Cost: 2 Energy
New Cost: 3 Energy
Scheming provides 2 cards worth of value for 1 card, as well as information and disruption. We are hoping to have a better grasp of costing discard as the game matures.
Call of the Corrupted - Cost Change
Old Cost: 3 Energy
New Cost: 4 Energy
Despite being a heavy RNG card, this card has the potential to not only add a full card’s worth of value as a 2-for-1, it also has the chance to create a significant energy advantage as well (often both at once). Additionally, the interaction with Engine Whisperer occasionally allows this to happen on turns that are too early for other decks to handle efficiently.
Triumph of the Lost - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Create and play a copy of the last effect, relic, and unit your enemy played.
New Ability:
Create and play a copy of the last effect, relic, and non-paragon unit your enemy played.
This probably should have always been the case, but nobody is perfect. We’ll be more careful about how Effects interact with Paragons moving forward. Also added logic to prevent situations where both players playing TotL would cause it to go infinite and should impact very few games.
Fleet Support - Cost Change
Old Cost: 4 Energy
New Cost: 3 Energy
We think this is a cool card that can create new archetypes that just wasn’t strong enough to generate interest in the general meta. We’ll keep an eye on this to make sure it’s not out of band, but we’d love to see some diversity out of Marcolian.
Tombstone (Hallowed Burial Ground token) - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Defender, Pacifist
At the start of your next turn, destroy this unit.
New Ability:
Defender, Pacifist
This is a Legendary card that was designed to support Decay. Currently Decay is underperforming and this Legendary isn’t as exciting as we want for that rarity. Hopefully now that they stick around, they can generate some more value for players. We’ll keep an eye out for other ways to show this card (and many others) some additional love.
Master Poisoner - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Destroy any unit dealt damage in combat.
New Ability:
Any unit dealt damage in combat is destroyed.
Elite Sharpshooter - Ability Change
Old Ability:
Destroy any unit dealt damage in combat by this unit.
New Ability:

Enduring Immunus - Ability Change
Old Ability:
The first time each turn another friendly non-token Kathari unit would be destroyed, put it into your hand instead.

Bug Fixes - Cards
Leonid, Wielder of Corruption / Mechanize
Fixed an issue when a unit with Leonid attached to it via Mechanize is destroyed, the enemy units that were taken control of are not returned to their owner's side.
Pocket Dimension
Fixed an issue when Pocket Dimension's ability prompt is displayed, the turn timer is not paused correctly and continues to consume the player's turn time.
Amniotic Mimic / Covert Assimilator
Fixed an issue when Covert Assimilator creates a copy of an Amniotic Mimic unit, the resulting unit has incorrect Attack Power of 4 instead of 1.
Photon Vanguard / Shield Pod
Fixed an issue where Photon Vanguard's various muster and attuned state change abilities are unable to damage or heal Shield Pod.
Argoel's Fealty
Fixed an issue where Argoel's Fealty ability incorrectly buffs units coming from the enemy's Singularity with Battle Ready.
Sower of Unrest
Fixed an issue when Sower of Unrest's ability is activated multiple times in a single turn, the effects incorrectly extend beyond the current turn.
Gnaeus Valerus Alpha
Fixed an issue where Gnaeus Valerus Alpha is incorrectly buffing friendly units who dealt 0 combat damage as long as they initiated an attack.
Cyrene, Trophy Hunter
Fixed an issue where Cyrene's abilities incorrectly deduct only 1 counter for all 3 options.
Dana Silvertongue / Mechanize
Fixed an issue when using a card like EMP Shockwave to destroy upgrades directly, abilities added via a mechanized unit like Dana Silvertongue are not removed and remain on the unit.
Foundry Technician
Fixed an issue where Foundry Technician's ability was not triggered when upgrades were played via the Overclock mechanic.
Pathfinder / Genetic Correction
Fixed an issue when using Genetic Correction to make a copy of a Pathfinder unit, it always defaults to a 1/1 copy, even if Pathfinder has gained additional attack and health via its own ability.
Pathfinder
Fixed an issue when Pathfinders are buffed by their own ability and then subsequently returned to the hand, their stats are not reset to the base value and retains the additional attack and health points from the buff.
O.H.G.R. / Mechanize
Fixed an issue where If O.H.G.R. is mechanized and attached to another unit, it will trigger it's own ability to create a copy of an attached upgrade and create another copy of itself to be attached.
Reckless Scientist / Rangsei, Master Imposter
Fixed an issue when Rangsei, upon transforming into Reckless Scientist, also triggered its Muster ability twice to draw a random card from the waste.
Gallian Recombinant
Fixed an issue where Recombinant clone copies the base attack and health of a unit instead of their current values.
Arak's Loyal Hammers / Remote Explosives Drone
Fixed an issue where Remote Explosives Drone's aftermath ability is able to deal damage to units in the Singularity, bank, or player hand.
Master Poisoner
Fixed an issue where Master Poisoner's ability is triggered even when 0 damage is done.
Innovative Apprentice
Fixed an issue where Innovative Apprentice is wasted when Mechanized.
Ishkur, Arak's Enforcer / Shield Pod
Fixed an issue where Ishkur, Arak's Enforcer is able to attach upgrades to Shield Pod.
The Rubicon / Maritus, Aetian Recombinant
Fixed an issue where two Convergent tokens are created instead of one after triggering The Rubicon ability by Maritus.
Deep Cover Mole
Fixed an issue where the game gets stuck on the ability panel for both players after fielding the card.
Mortal Echo / Offensive Salvage Subsystem
Fixed an issue where Mortal Echo is able to attach to a friendly unit by using Offensive Salvage Subsystem.
Scipian Praetor / Synchronicity
Fixed an issue where copied Scipian Praetor does not grant Defender trait if there is a Scipius' Adjutant standing on the field before.
Known Bugs - Cards
Triumph of the Lost / Triumph of Europa / Baron Squire, the Vile
Triumph of the Lost and Triumph of Europa are read as 2 effects played from the hand after playing the Baron created by Triumph of Europa.
Concede Penalty Monitoring
We will continue to monitor the stability of the game and reinstate the early concede penalty once we have reached stability.
Improving the Player Experience
We are actively listening to our player's feedback and are committed to improving the experience for everyone. Action is being taken against accounts that violate our EULA and Terms of Use, including match dodging, multi-accounting, and match picking. We will continue to monitor and take action where necessary.
PRIME Boost - Companions
Prime Boost for Companions was due to go live in Open Beta Season 3 but will now go live during Season 4. Look out for extra in-game earnings when you equip your companion to your in-game deck!
Planetfall Replication
Planetfall Replication will be going live in mid-June. We appreciate your patience and look to bring this feature online as soon as we can.
UI and QoL Updates and Improvements
We are continuing our work on many improvements to the UI/UX for the TCG. Our latest release has a few first changes now live including:
- Larger text size for Cost/Health/Attack stats of cards
- Readability improved for card text
- Updated end of turn flow
- Rookie Hint Readability
We are also working on larger updates to the User Interface / Experience and will look to share more when we can. Updates and improvements to the MMR & Matchmaking Systems are also in progress.
